Associate Professor
About
I am currently involved in organisational transformation, focused upon the challenges of the move from product to through life support service provision. My current work includes the music, aerospace and health sectors.
I worked as part of the S4T programme that aims to inform and lead the continuing transformation of the UK economy towards increasing value generation from product related services.
I was a Theme Leader and Core team member for the €16M EU Intelligent Logistics for Innovative Product Technologies (ILIPT) project, a European consortium of 30 companies from across the automotive supply chain. The work examined how automotive companies can produce and deliver a customer bespoke car only 5 days after receiving an order and our findings were published in the book, ‘Build to Order; The Road to the 5-day Car’, available from Springer.com.
My work also involves working in aerospace and construction consortia to explore how lean thinking may be applied beyond manufacture, across the enterprise. The Agile Construction Initiative involves leading UK construction firms and Government clients and is focused upon lean process, knowledge management and company strategy. Within aerospace I am working on lean process improvement, strategy, core competence and have a longitudinal programme of study into the challenges of ERP software management.
Prior to joining the University of the West of England in 2009 I was a Senior Fellow at the University of Bath and retain Senior Visiting Fellow status there. I have previously worked as part of the UK Lean Aerospace Initiative at WMG - University of Warwick, LEK Consulting LLP, TWI and British Steel.
